A high-profile attorney in numerous racially charged cases, Daryl Parks, has joined the legal team for a group of Black McDonald's franchisees, who alleged that the company systemically pushed them toward opening location in economically disadvantaged areas, according to Eater.
Parks was legal counsel for the families of slain Black youngsters including Trayvon Martin and Tamir Rice. He joins the legal team at the Ferraro Law Firm, which was already representing the franchisees in two racial-discrimination lawsuits involving the Chicago-based QSR.
The two lawsuits, representing current and former franchisees, accused McDonald's of giving white franchisees better growth opportunities than those who were Black.
The company has asked a federal judge to dismiss the case.
