Huey Magoo's has opened its first express model franchise location. The new unit is part of the main campus of the University of Central Florida's Student Union and is already breaking systemwide sales records, according to the company.
The location is operated by AD Foodservice, a new franchisee to the Huey Magoo's system. AD Foodservice's portfolio includes numerous other quick-service concepts.
Huey Magoo's new express concept offers a more limited menu for faster throughput – the model aims to serve food in 30 seconds or less.
"We recognized an opportunity to achieve high sales volume due to foot traffic in venues such as student unions, airports, and malls by streamlining operations and simplifying menu options. These modifications have allowed us to accomplish our goals," said Thad Hudgens, Huey Magoo's president and co-founder.
Huey Magoo's, founded in 2004 in Oviedo, Fla., currently operates two locations in the Orlando area in addition to the new express model at UCF. Huey Magoo's will be opening an additional franchise unit later in 2013 and expects to carry out extensive growth throughout the next three years in other mid- and large-cap markets.
