IDS Menus debuts energy-efficient drive-thru menu board

February 25, 2010

IDS Menus, a supplier of indoor, outdoor and digital menu boards, has announced the launch of its new Green Series Drive-Thru Menu Board System. The system uses energy saving LED technology to help save operators money from the time of purchase.

While it is brighter than the company's existing drive-thru systems, the Green Series consumes 80 percent to 90 percent less electricity. The lighting will last approximately 12 years, eliminating the need for a bulb or ballast change, said Dean Edelman, president of IDS Menus.

"This is a tremendous savings for restaurant operators in maintenance and operating costs," he said in a news release. "We have also listened to our customers and increased the content viewing area by 45 percent without impact to the overall display size."

Additionally, the Green Series is engineered to be priced at or below the cost of IDS' non-LED systems, said Rick Kranz, CEO of IDS Menus.

"This is game-changing technology for us," he said. "We expect to capture an even larger share of the drive-thru market with this product line."
