IDS Menus to appear on 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition'
November 4, 2008
HOLBROOK, N.Y. — IDS Menus, a supplier of restaurant display technologies, will appear in an upcoming episode of ABC Television's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." The episode, which airs on Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. Eastern time, features a coffee shop remodel.
The Extreme Makeover team rebuilt More Than Coffee, a St. Louis take-out coffee shop with a unique company mission. The shop's owner, Sam Malek, is a devout Christian with cerebral palsy who contributes portions of his profits to helping others.
Malek was born in Egypt two months premature and was literally disposed of in a trash can by his parents. He was discovered and brought to America in his early childhood, where he was raised by the international fraternity the Shriners. Malek has undergone 29 operations over his lifetime.
The Extreme Makeover team completely demolished Malek's original shop and rebuilt it from the ground up. IDS Menus provided exterior menu signage to the project.
