August 6, 2006
Contra Costa Times: Esther L. Snyder, who with husband, Harry, founded the iconic In-N-Out Burger chain, died Aug. 4 at age 86.
The Snyders opened the first In-N-Out drive-thru stand in Baldwin Park in 1948. In-N-Out now has 202 restaurants in California, Arizona and Nevada. Their business plan was simple: Serve fresh burgers in a "two-way speaker" drive-thru concept.
