The In-N-Out Burger in Oakland, California will close March 24 due to a number of safety problems, according to an AP report.
It's the first unit to close in its recent history.
A number of car break-ins, property damage, theft and robberies have plagued the restaurant in recent years, and although the company has taken "repeated steps to create safer conditions our customers and associates are regularly victimized," Denny Warnick, In-N-Out's chief operating officer, said in a statement, adding "it is in not viable to keep the venerable burger chain open in the area."
"We feel the frequency and severity of the crimes being encountered by our customers and associates leave us no alternative," Warnick said in the statement.
Police report 1,335 incidents in the area of the In-N-Out Burger, according to a San Francisco Chronicle report.
The restaurant is a stop for travelers headed to the local airport or to visit after A's games at the Coliseum.
