Jack in the Box elevates new sandwiches with artisan bread

February 4, 2010

Last year, Jack in the Box used its Super Bowl advertising to kick off its rebranding campaign with an ad in which its mascot Jack was hit by a bus. This year, the brand is debuting a new product platform, grilled sandwiches.

Jack in the Box's two new varieties of Grilled Sandwiches are served on grilled artisan bread and include:
  • Turkey, Bacon & Cheddar, featuring roasted turkey, two slices of cheddar cheese and two bacon strips topped with a sundried tomato sauce
  • Deli Trio, featuring Genoa salami, sliced ham, roasted turkey, two slices of provolone cheese and two pickle filets topped with a creamy Italian sauce
"With so much attention focused on the Super Bowl, especially among our core users, this is the perfect venue for Jack in the Box to launch two new innovative products that are unique to our segment of the restaurant industry," said Tammy Bailey, division vice president of menu marketing and promotions for Jack in the Box Inc. "Our new Grilled Sandwiches are the ideal choice for guests looking for variety from traditional fast-food fare."

The new Turkey, Bacon & Cheddar and Deli Trio Grilled Sandwiches are available at participating Jack in the Box restaurants for $3.99 each, plus tax.

While a number of quick-service brands — including Sonic, Arby's, Checkers/Rally's, and Carl's Jr. and Hardee's — have debuted burgers or sandwiches in which thick, toasted bread replaces the bun, Jack in the Box truly has something new. Artisan bread is more akin to fast casual menus than QSR, and its grilled offerings are the one of the first to feature true sandwiches on (almost) square slices.
