Jack in the Box reports record 2007 profit

SAN DIEGO — Same-store sales at Jack in the Box company restaurants increased 5.2 percent in the fourth quarter compared to a 5.9 percent increase during the same time last year. For the year, same-store sales at Jack in the Box company restaurants increased 6.1 percent compared to an increase of 4.8 percent for FY '06.
Jack in the Box Inc. beat fourth-quarter earnings expectations with a net income of $27 million for the quarter ended Sept. 30, 2007, compared with $33.2 million for the same quarter in 2006. For fiscal 2007, net earnings reached a record $126.3 million, compared with fiscal 2006 earnings of $108 million.
Jack in the Box opened 28 new restaurants, including five franchised locations in the fourth quarter, compared with 17 restaurants, including three franchised locations, last year. For the year, Jack in the Box added 58 new restaurants, including 16 franchised locations, compared with 36 restaurants last year, which included seven franchised locations.
