January freeze impacting tomato supply

Last month's freeze has devastated much of Florida's tomato crop, impacting the nation's primary sourcing of the fruit for the winter months, according to the Miami Herald.
Burger King restaurants nationwide have been experiencing sporadic shortages of tomatoes for about a week. Other chains, including Subway, are turning to Mexico for sourcing, but Burger King has chosen not to because of the lack of consistent quality of round tomatoes. The shortage will likely continue for several weeks.
