Poll: Mustard is No.1 hot dog topping

Mustard is the No.1 topping for hot dogs, according to JJ's Red Hots Top 10 Hot Dog Toppings report. The Charlotte-based concept analyzed the previous year's sales data to find that mustard, onions, chili, relish, cheese, bacon, sauerkraut, cole slaw, ketchup, and queso are America’s favorite toppings.

It's the first time that queso made the cut, and much to President and Founder Jonathan Luther's chagrin, ketchup is still in the running.

"While I have to live with ketchup for a year, most of this year's list made sense from a historical point of view… Fortunately, we have featured more than 300 toppings since we opened so we have everything to attract old school connoisseurs and more than enough to please even the most demanding palate," he said.
