Jury orders Jack in the Box to pay Missouri man $20.5M

September 6, 2013

A St. Louis man who was permanently disabled in a fight in the parking lot of a St. Louis Jack in the Box restaurant is set to receive $20.5 million from the chain after a jury trial this week.

Ali Aziz, 35, now has permanent brain damage and cannot walk or feed himself after receiving a beating in June 2010. Four people were sentenced to prison for the crime, according to KansasCity.com.

Aziz sued the chain, claiming it could have prevented the fight and did not properly train its employees.

Jack in the Box said it may appeal the ruling, contending Aziz provoked the fight, according to The St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
