KFC will donate 1 million pieces of chicken to KFC restaurants across the country to celebrate teachers who are returning to the classroom, whether virtually or physically, through its Back-to-School Buckets initiative, a news release said.

Now through the end of September, franchisees will show their appreciation to educators in their local communities as the new school year begins by cooking and serving the brand's fried chicken in the following ways:

  • Catering in-service training meetings for teachers and administrators.
  • Delivering buckets of chicken to teachers as they prepare virtual curriculums.
  • Honoring the staff who keep campuses clean and safe.

Starting next week on Aug. 20, KFC customers can also tweet the brand with the hashtag #KFCback2school and #sweepstakes to nominate a teacher from their local community to win a gift card for a KFC Bucket meal, with more details coming next week.
