What better way to market your brand during that favorite haunted holiday of Halloween, then to dispatch thousands of pint-sized versions of your spokesperson to people's doorsteps? Obviously, Kentucky Fried Chicken hit on that great idea when they partnered with Halloween specialty retailer, Spirit Halloween, to turn the brand's founder, Colonel Harland Sanders, into a limited-edition costume, complete with white hair, white suit and string tie.
The brand said though trick-or-treaters have long been dressing up as the colonel, this year and this offering make it official. In fact, today is Col. Sanders birthday No. 129, so somewhere he is raising a drumstrick in celebration.
The costume (available in adult and youth sizes), includes a button-front jacket with attached shirt, dress pants, and accessories such as facial hair, glasses, and a glowing white wig.
Sanders created that look in the 1950s and rarely appeared in public wearing anything else. The costume to create your own rendition of the colonels will set you back $59.99 for the adult version and $49.99 for kids and is available online at SpiritHalloween.com. To get a promotion code today for the costume, the brand is offering those who sign up for KFC's Colonel Club emails the discount, as well as making it available to existing club members as well.
