KFC launches meaty, boneless filet in $5 box
March 1, 2010
KFC has introduced a new fried boneless chicken filet, designed for customers to eat with their hands rather than on a sandwich. Promoted as "a whole new way to eat chicken," the new Original Recipe Boneless Filet comes in a small container to allow customers to "Get A Grip" while they eat. Ads for the new product say the filet is the chain's meatiest filet yet.
The campaign also features a new $5 box promotion. The $5 Boneless Filet Box features the oversized 100 percent white meat chicken breast filet plus the choice of an individual side item, a biscuit and a drink, available for a limited time. For an additional cost, customers can add an additional filet to the the Boneless Filet Box.
The new filet could be the same boneless filet featured in the infamous Double Down that drew worldwide media attention in August when the company tested the sandwich in the Midwest. That sandwich featured two boneless filets instead of buns to hold slices of bacon and pepperjack and Swiss cheese.
KFC did not return calls for a request for comment.
