KFC to expand in Brazil
March 28, 2007
RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil — Brazil Fast Food Corp. and Louisville, Ky.-based Yum! Brands Inc. have reached an agreement to franchise the KFC brand in Brazil.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Brazil Fast Food Corp. also owns the 534-outlet Bob's chain, the second-largest hamburger chain in Brazil.
Under the agreement, Brazil Fast Food will take over KFC's four company owned and operated restaurants in Rio de Janeiro as a Yum franchisee. In addition, Brazil Fast Food will expand the KFC chain throughout Brazil by opening new restaurants — both company-owned and franchised — and managing the chain's Brazilian operations.
