KFC's original 'man in the white coat' to make cameo on 'General Hospital'

July 2, 2018

The white-coated doctors of the long-running soap opera, "General Hospital," will be joined this Friday — a.k.a. National Fried Chicken Day — on the ABC show by the original man in the white coat, KFC founder, Col. Harland Sanders, according to parent company, Yum Brands.

True, it's not the real embodiment of the deceased chicken restaurateur, but in this case, one of his favorite imitators in the form of ever-suntanned actor George Hamilton in the role of Extra Crispy Colonel.

The brand said the episode with the Colonel's cameo airs at 2 p.m., Eastern time Friday.

"Unfortunately, we can't provide any additional details regarding his role as of yet," a spokesperson said in an email to QSRweb. "But we can say that Colonel Sanders has been a long-time fan of General Hospital and finally has his chance to appear in an episode during the show's 55th anniversary season and on National Fried Chicken Day. Stay tuned!"

The celebrity colonel joins an elite list of other VIPs to cameo on the show, including actors James Franco and Elizabeth Taylor, though it's doubtful either of them had "white coat credentials," like the beloved chicken man.
