After seven years away, Krispy Kreme is returning to the Chicago area this November. The first of eight planned stores will be located on South Halsted Street in Homewood. The brand said it will add another two restaurants in the area next year.
A news release said the South Halsted store will feature the chain's new look, as well as a drive-thru, and will feature premium coffee, specialty lattes, frozen chillers and more than a dozen types of doughnuts, including the chain's classic original glazed doughnut.
"With such an active and supportive community, Homewood offers the perfect environment for Krispy Kreme to relaunch in the area," said Chicagolands Restaurants President Carlos Larcada, in the release.
The 79-year-old North Carolina-based chain boasts more than 1,000 locations in 27 countries.
