Free doughnuts are the order of the day at two of the biggest QSR doughnut brands — Krispy Kreme and Dunkin'.
At Krispy Kreme, the doughnut giveaways revolve around the COVID-19 vaccination effort in the U.S. The brand is offering a free original glazed doughnut every day to anyone with a COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, beginning this Monday, according to Krispy Kreme's website. There are no details on how long the daily doughnut offer will last.
To qualify, customers need to have gotten at least one of the pair of shots Moderna or Pfizer is offering, or the single shot of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. For those declining a vaccination, the brand is offering a free doughnut from March 29 through May 24, which will come with a free medium brewed coffee.
Meanwhile, at Dunkin' the free doughnuts are pinned to a beverage purchase and the famous day of the week known as Hump Day.
The brand has launched Free Donut Wednesdays for its DD Perks members, beginning March 24 and running every Wednesday through April 21, according to a press release.
"We know people are craving some fun and excitement to break up the week. With Free Donut Wednesdays, we're excited to give our DD Perks members a free sweet treat to help beat the midweek slump and keep them running with a smile," Joanna Bonder, Dunkin' director, loyalty marketing and strategy, said in the release.
Also on March 24, Dunkin' is launching a Blueberry Pomegranate flavored Dunkin' Refresher with iced green tea, flavored fruit concentrate, and B vitamins. The drink can be one of any offered at Dunkin' that allows customers to also get a free doughnut of their choice on Wednesdays.
