Krispy Kreme hopes customers 'fall' for new flavors

August 29, 2016

With fall right around the corner, Krispy Kreme is lining up the spices for some new LTOs for cooler days, including pumpkin spice cake and salted caramel latte doughnuts, as well as a pumpkin spice latte that comes hot, cold or frozen.

Now, through Nov. 24, the pumpkin spice  cake doughnut is available and harkens back to the old-fashioned version of the "hole-y" cake, right down to that iconic Krispy Kreme glaze. The salted caramel version is filled with espresso cream and topped with salted caramel icing and salted sugar. The pumpkin spice latte beverage is a spicy blend of the milky drink topped with whipped crème and pumpkin topping – all to be imbibed in the diner's choice of toasty hot to frozen slushy, according to a company press release.

"Our fans crave these seasonally inspired treats, and the pairing of a pumpkin spice latte and one of our doughnuts makes for the perfect comfort food as the weather starts to cool down," said the brand’s Chief Marketing Officer Jackie Woodward.

All this pumpkin and spice is just a lead-up though to "Talk like a Pirate Day" on Sept. 19 , which Krispy Kreme  celebrates by offering the pirate and the skull-and-crossbones doughnuts. The pirate variety comes dipped in ghostly white icing and is  finished with a pirate’s face, while the "crossbones" variety is filled with chocolate, dipped in chocolate icing and topped with candied skull and crossbones.
