Krispy Kreme opens two more neighborhood shops

July 11, 2010

Krispy Kreme is moving forward with its expansion strategy of opening its smaller neighborhood shops with two new stores. Earlier this month, the company opened a shop in Wake Forest, N.C. On Tuesday, the company will celebrate its 73rd birthday with a new shop in the Jeffersontown area of Louisville, Ky.

Both stores feature a 2,000-square-foot retail space with drive-thru and the company's Kool Kreme ice cream line in addition to the brand's line of signature coffees and espresso drinks, Krispy Kreme Chillers, iced beverages and of course, donuts. With the neighborhood shop model, donuts are made at a central hub and delivered to the shops several times a day, where the hot glaze is added. The smaller footprint helps save on operating costs while allowing Krispy Kreme more extensive options for its new locations.

The stores each have their own Facebook page, and the Jeffersontown store will also have its own Twitter account. (@KrispyKremeJtwn).
