Many quick-service chains have found success with coffee, and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts may soon join the ranks.
According to the Winston-Salem Journal, the company announced its plan to launch three "signature" blends of coffee, including house, house decaf and dark roast, in the fall.
The blends also will eventually be sold packaged at retail locations.
Coffee sales currently make up about 4 percent of Krispy Kreme's revenue.
The plan, announced this week at the company's annual shareholders meeting in its hometown of Winston-Salem, N.C. also entails more Baked Creations, a line of baked sweet items such as bagels, muffins and cinnamon rolls that is available at retail outlets.
