The Krystal Company said today it is bringing in new leadership, while its current CEO and CFO are leaving the company. The burger brand named former Captain D's COO Tim Ward to fill a new position of president and COO, while former Qdoba CFO Bruce Vermilyea fills the role of CFO at the burger brand.
Current Krystal President and CEO Paul Macaluso and CFO Berry Epley are leaving the company, according to a news release.
At Captain D's, Ward was in the key chief operations post when the company experienced eight straight years of positive same-store sales and developed a pipeline of over 100 new restaurant locations. Vermilyea served 18 years with Qdoba Restaurant Corp. including three years as CFO.
"We're adding Tim and Bruce to the team because of the operational excellence they have driven at brands that have a lot in common with Krystal," Krystal parent company, Argonne Capital Group founder and CEO Michael A. Klump, said in the release.
"We look forward to working with Tim, Bruce and the rest of the Krystal team to build upon some of our recent wins including facility improvements, improved food quality, a recently announced refranchising initiative and the signing of our first franchise development agreement in over a decade."
