Krystal Burger — a chain that revolves around a small square hamburger offering — is launching a philanthropic foundation to fund school extracurricular programs. To kick things off, the chain is taking its cause on the road to raise money and awareness to fund grants through the foundation.
The chain's mobile restaurant, the Krystal Cruiser, is the conduit for the Squaring is Caring tour, beginning today and ending Oct. 7 after stopping in three cities nationwide to raise cash for the program. Grants will be awarded to community school initiatives that promote so-called S.T.E.A.M. — Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math programs.
The tour started in Nashville today, and will wind its way to Augusta, Georgia and Birmingham, Alabama over the next two weeks. The foundation is partnering with the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, Country Music Association Foundation, Augusta University Student Club Sports programs, The Family Y and the Birmingham Education Foundation to launch the initiative to raise grant and foundation funds.
