Krystal targets energy drink fans with online campaign, coupon

Krystal restaurants has launched on online ad campaign and coupon for free coupon for its new proprietary Krystal Blitz energy drink, launched last month.
 
The free coupon offer is available at the company's new microsite. The interactive site allows visitors to download the coupon as well as send coupons to friends via e-mail. The site also features a series of humorous, irreverent video vignettes depicting animated pencil sketches of the "Can Energy Drink Guy," in the shaped of a tall can, trying and failing to measure up to the Krystal Blitz.
 
The new online ad campaign features a series banner ads similar to the videos found at the microsite. The banner ads encourage energy drink fans to "kick the can" and get their boost from a freshly-poured Krystal Blitz energy drink served either "On the Rocks" or Frozen.
 
The banner ads will appear on music and gaming sites like Addictinggames and Myspace and throughout Yahoo's online community. The ads offer a glimpse of the "Can Energy Drink Guy" story and encourage visitors to click the ad to see how the story ends. After clicking, visitors will be able to print a coupon for a free 20-ounce Krystal Blitz.
 
The microsite and banner ad promotions follow an online scavenger hunt that led consumers to clues among Krystal's social media sites to receive a downloadable coupon for a free Blitz.
