After more than four decades of serving Coney dogs and Greek specialties in the Metro Detroit area, Leo's Coney Island is expanding west with the opening of its first Grand Rapids location at 6080 28th St., (Cascade Crossings) in Cascade, the company announced.
Hoping to catch the wave of retail development sweeping West Michigan, the first Leo's location is slated to open in late July. The opening will create more than 50 jobs, including positions in operations, service, the kitchen and management. Leo's will join Wendy's and Panera Bread at its new location.
"Grand Rapids has one of the best economies in Michigan and across the nation," said Bill Krall, owner/operator of Leo's Coney Island. "Not only did we see this as an opportunity to tap into a booming market but also the chance to give a new community a dining option it currently doesn't have. Our greatest goal is to become a part of the community. At every store we have, we've taken on the role of local family restaurant. Getting to know our people is a big deal for us. As a business that places a large emphasis on giving back to the community, it personalizes every opportuni-ty for us to invest in the lives of those who have helped sustain ours."
Krall intends to develop locations throughout West Michigan's major corridors in the near future, the announcement said. The QSR operates more than 50 locations in the Metro Detroit area.
