The owners of five Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen restaurants in the Indianapolis-area have been accused of avoiding the state's sales tax.
According to the Indianapolis Star, a group of business partners collectively owe about $5 million in back taxes dating back to 2003.
Although the State of Indiana initially threatened to close the restaurants' doors, a settlement is currently being worked out instead. If the settlement, however, is not followed, the state will seek an injunction allowing it to padlock the restaurants' doors.
