Long John Silver's and A&W Restaurants will keep their headquarters in Kentucky after being soldby parent company Yum! Brands -- based in Louisville, Ky. -- in September.
According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, the state offered tax incentives to keep the brands and their 90 employees in Kentucky.
Long John Silver's was purchased by LJS Partners, led by a group of franchisee leaders and other investors. The nearly 1,300-unit will continue to be headquartered in Louisville with a roster of 60 employees.
A&W was purchased by startup A Great American Brand LLC, led by a franchisee leader with substantial interests in international A&W restaurants and the National A&W Franchisees Association. The company's 30 employees will be based out of Lexington, Ky.
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority approved tax incentives for both companies of up to $1.5 million, and $600,000 respectively, for keeping their headquarters in the Bluegrass State.
"Together, our efforts will allow both corporate headquarters to grow faster and larger, as well as expand the international reach of their brands," Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear said in a press release.
