Long John Silver’s is celebrating national "Talk Like a Pirate Day" this Saturday with a free fish tender for customers who talk like a pirate and a two-piece fish tender basket for customers who dress like a pirate. No coupon is needed, according to a company press release.

"Talk Like a Pirate Day" is an actual annual international holiday celebrated Sept. 19, which is fitting for Long John Silver’s to honor, considering it is named after the most colorful character in the classic pirate tale, Treasure Island, according to the release.

In addition to free food, Long John Silver’s is encouraging restaurant teams to decorate and dress up for the holiday. Customers might even discover a pirate taking their order on Saturday. Long John Silver’s fans can also visit ljsilvers.com/tlap to can claim a new pirate identity with the pirate name generator.

"We never take ourselves too seriously, and Talk Like a Pirate Day is the perfect chance to be playful and have fun with our pirate heritage," said Margo Mize, SVP of marketing. "Eating delicious seafood at Long John Silver’s is the perfect way to celebrate the day."

The chain recently named Duke Marketing, a marketing communications firm specializing in multi-location and franchise companies, as its LSM agency of record.
