Long John Silver’s hosting nationwide free food giveaway

Long John Silver’s plans to treat the country to lunch on June 28, as well as set a new world record in the process for the “largest free fish fry.”

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 28, participating locations will give away one crispy fish filet and a serving of its natural-cut French fries to every guest. No purchase is necessary.

“Over the coming months, Long John Silver’s will announce special events and offers designed to surprise and delight our loyal customers and allow them to enjoy — or perhaps rediscover — the delicious seafood they love and crave,” CEO Mike Kern said in a news release. “We’re kicking off this summer of specials by inviting everyone in the communities we serve to come in and enjoy lunch on us.”

The giveaway is a way to thank loyal customers, Kern said. All Long John Silver’s locations are encouraged to participate in the offer, which is limited to one customer per store, per visit. It is good for dine-in and carryout only.
