A veteran QSR franchisee is making big changes at his latest Long John Silver's unit opening in May in Fredericksburg, Virginia, a news release said. Khawar Mian has been working in the business for 26 years, and his new location will include the brand's new restaurant design, drive-thru "of the future" and array of grilled offerings including tacos.
"Growing up, my family and I always enjoyed eating at Long John Silver's," Mian said in the release. "Fredericksburg has a limited choice of quick service seafood restaurants, and this brand is one we love and believe in. It made the most sense to invest in."
The new location will feature Long John Silver's new drive-thru of the future, with an enhanced and interactive menu board. The release said the location will also offer customers new grilled menu options like rice bowls and tacos, customizable with either grilled, wild-caught Alaskan salmon or grilled shrimp.
"Growth is exciting and that's what is on our menu this year," CEO James O'Reilly, said in the release. "We're excited to add a QSR industry veteran to our franchisee line-up and we know he will be a successful member of our team."
Long John Silver's recently began the process of revitalizing the brand, swapping the nostalgic Cape Cod elements for clean, nautical-themed lines of a new design. The newly renovated restaurants have already reported double-digit growth and the newest Long John Silver's location in Fredericksburg, VA will showcase the new look.
The brand has also evolved from 100-percent franchised following the start of restaurant acquisition three years ago, leading to the current 10 percent ownership, which makes the company the largest restaurant operator for the brand.
The brand, founded in 1969, now has almost 1,000 locations in the U.S.
