Marvelous Market expands in D.C.
September 12, 2006
ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Marvelous Market, a quick-service model serving fresh fare, has announced expansion plans.
The chain has partnered with Fransmart, an Alexandria-based franchise development company. "Marvelous Market has been a Washington D.C. favorite since its opening in 1990," said Marvelous Market chief executive Michael Meyer. "Our fresh look at on-the-go quality food has won over many Washingtonians and we are excited to bring more stores to the area." According to a news release, the store is often referred to as a "mini Whole Foods" because it offers bottled wine, fresh-baked breads, pastries, desserts, sandwiches and salads.
Marvelous Market has eight stores in the D.C. metro area and expects to grow to 50-plus units by 2008. The company said it will open at the beginning of October on Capitol Hill.
