Mashable examines top 40 brands on Twitter

January 21, 2009

Advertising Age: Technology news blog site Mashable has compiled the 40 best brand accounts on Twitter and the people behind them. The identities of the Twitterer behind two brands, Burger King and Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, could not be determined.

Mashable suspects Popeyes vice president of communications and public relations Alicia Thompson may be the person responding on the Twitter account. Burger King's Twitterer claims to be the King.

Mashable also named Dunkin' Donuts in the top 40, naming "Dunkin' Dave" from Dunkin' Donuts corporate communications as the Twitterer. Mashable also found that Burger King is on Twitter as a branding experiment, Popeyes sees it "as a way to stay abreast of what our consumers are up to, and to get a leg up on the competition," and Dunkin' Donuts says it's a good way to communicate with customers and get feedback.
