Indoor masks are back in play in Philadelphia for indoor spaces, including restaurants, due to a spike in COVID-19 infections.
The mask mandate, which went into effect Monday, comes about a month after the mask rule was lifted, according to a New York Times report.
Reaction to the mandate varies as health leaders say it's a smart move but business operators are wary that it will hurt business. The mandate requires masks in all indoor areas but businesses can require vaccination proof from staff and customers in lieu of a mask.
"There's really no sense of stability with regards to business," said Shane Dodd, a co-owner of a bistro, told the news outlet. "It's a never-ending story," he said.
