McDonald's $90,000 bejeweled cup giveaway tribute to Shamrock Shake

McDonald's is celebrating its Shamrock Shake's 50th anniversary with an appropriately shake-filled golden offering that syncs with the return of the icy green concoction in the runup to that all-things-green holiday, St. Patrick's Day on March 17. The brand is auctioning off a version of the shake in a bejeweled gold cup called the Golden Shamrock Shake, a news release said. 

The $90,000 (appraised value) cup bears nothing short of 50 emeralds and diamonds on a golden cup filled with the green shake and offered via the Ronald McDonald House Charities eBay for Charity page, beginning today through March 6. Bidding starts at $1.

The Shamrock Shake helped start the first Ronald McDonald House in 1974 with donations made through the LTO. Proceeds for the winning Golden Shamrock Shake bid will also go to support the charity, while one customer will also win the shake on the McDonald's Global mobile app. 

The brand said customers can enter to win a cup by buying a Shamrock Shake or Oreo Shamrock McFlurry through Mobile Order & Pay, starting today.
