McDonald's Canada expands Poutine offering

McDonald's Canada has launched Poutine across the country. The dish was first introduced in Quebec more than a decade ago and has been requested by customers in other provinces since, according to a news release.

"We're thrilled to offer a McDonald's favorite in Quebec to our customers across Canada," said Anne Parks, director of Menu Management, McDonald's Canada. "We often adapt recipes from other countries, but in this case Poutine is homegrown fare."

Poutine now represents a $79 million category in Canada, according to the NPD Group.

"More than two thirds of Canadians who enjoy Poutine live outside Quebec," Parks said. "It's the right time to introduce Poutine to our customers from coast to coast."

Priced from $3.99 plus tax, McDonald's Poutine is made with the company's signature French fries and topped with real Quebec cheese curds and gravy.
