McDonald's comps continue upward trend

OAK BROOK, Ill. — Global comparable-store sales at McDonald's Corp. rose 8.1 percent in August, the company has announced. Systemwide sales for McDonald's restaurants worldwide increased 12.3 percent for the month.
U.S. comps rose 7.4 percent for the month. Comps in Europe rose 6.1 percent, while comps in Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa were up 12.4 percent.
Breakfast and beverage sales, relevant marketing and new food offerings contributed to the company's August performance, McDonald's officials said.
