OAK BROOK, Ill. — Global comparable-store sales at McDonald's Corp. rose 6.5 percent in July, the company announced. Systemwide sales for McDonald's restaurants worldwide increased 11.7 percent for the month.
U.S. comps rose 4.3 percent for the month. Comps in Europe rose 7.7 percent, while comps in Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa were up 9.9 percent.
Comparable sales were up 9.9 percent, driven by ongoing sales strength in Japan, Australia and China. Breakfast sales, creative marketing and extended hours contributed to the company's July performance, McDonald's officials said.
