OAK BROOK, Ill. — McDonald's Corp. said system-wide sales rose 8.1 percent in June, or 6.9 percent on a constant-dollar basis. According to a regulatory filing, second-quarter system-wide sales increased 6.6 percent on a constant-dollar basis.
Global comparable-store sales grew 5.9 percent in June and 5.5 percent for the quarter.
In the United States, strong breakfast sales and a Happy Meal promotion boosted comps 5.2 percent for June.
Solid sales in Germany, France and the United Kingdom boosted overall Europe comps 4.5 percent in June.
For the second quarter, revenue climbed 9.4 percent to $5.57 billion, while net income increased to $834.1 million versus $530.4 million a year earlier.
