December 5, 2010

McDonald’s will invest Rs350 crore – or about $78 million – in the Indian city of Ahmedabad throughout the next four years.

Ahmedabad is located in the state of Gujarat and is the seventh largest city in India.
According to the Daily News & Analysis, this investment will increase the count of quick-service restaurants in the city from 10 to more than 40 by 2014.

McDonald’s will focus its new units along interstate exits.

In India, the company currently has a presence in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Vapi, and plans to open an outlet in Rajkot are underway.

McDonald’s initially announced an aggressive expansion plan in India in 2006. In 2009, the company outlined a more specific plan, anticipating 10-fold growth by 2025.
