The McRib is coming back, and McDonald's fans are rejoicing, according to a report from CNN, and returning nearly a month earlier than last year.
The popular sandwich will be available at participating restaurants nationwide Nov. 1.
This year marks the 40th anniversary for the McRib, which first launched in Kansas City, Kansas, in 1981 to less-than-favorable reviews. The sandwich features a seasoned boneless pork patty dipped in BBQ sauce and topped with onions and dill pickles on a hoagie bun. It was pulled four years after its debut but has been released many times over the years to become a cult favorite. It was last offered in 2020 nationwide.
"Whether you're a McRib loyalist or first timer, there is no denying that the McRib is one of the most iconic sandwiches of the last four decades and we have thousands of emails and tweets from fans to prove it," Mike Bullington, McDonald's senior archivist, told USA TODAY in a report.
