McDonald's, which debuted its first burger 68 years ago, has been busy tweaking some of its classic burgers, including the iconic Big Mac, to make them even better tasting.

The "small but tasty improvements" include softer buns, perfectly melted cheese and juicie flavor thanks to a new onion approach and adding more Big Mac sauce, according to a blog post.

The tweaks are being made to the McDouble, classic cheeseburger, double cheeseburger and hamburger in addition to the Big Mac.

"I'll always remember my first burger from McDonald's. And now my culinary team and I have the best job in the world: thinking about ways to bring even more of that iconic McDonald's taste to fans," chef Chad Schafer, senior director of culinary innovation, McDonald's USA, said in the blog post. "We found that small changes, like tweaking our process to get hotter, meltier cheese and adjusting our grill settings for a better sear, added up to a big difference in making our burgers more flavorful than ever."

The burger improvements were initially deployed in international markets including Australia, Canada and Belgium and are now making the U.S. debut, with roll outs in several cities on the West Coast. All customers will be able to taste the difference at all restaurants nationwide by 2024.
