McDonald's expands chicken wings test

January 8, 2013

After a successful pilot in Atlanta and on the heels of a solid Chicken McBites launch, McDonald's is reportedly expanding its Mighty Wings test to the Chicago market.

Mighty Wings, or deep-fried chicken wings, are sold in three, five or 10 pieces, according to the Associated Press.

The Golden Arches sold Mighty Wings previously in the 1990s. Last year, the chain introduced McWings in Australia. Chicken wings are also currently available in Spain.

A spokeswoman for McDonald's told the AP that the test in Chicago starts this week but added there aren't plans to bring the offering to other markets.

Notably, the Mighty Wings' test expansion comes shortly after rival Burger King added chicken nuggets to its menu for the first time.
