McDonald's has plans to increase its store count in Russia by about 15 percent. According to Forbes, this would equate to 40 new restaurants in the country, which has seen an increased demand for more quick-service options.
In 2010, McDonald's opened more than 30 new units in Russia and invested about $174.2 million.
The market, which offers long-term potential because of its growing population and strengthening economy, has attracted a number of chains recently, including Wendy's and Dunkin' Donuts. Burger King also debuted in Russia in early 2010.
