McDonald's Germany names new CEO

McDonald's Corp. has a new CEO for its Germany system. The chain announced that Holger Beeck, 54, will take over the role at the end of November.

According to Reuters, Beeck, current COO, takes over for Bane Knezevic, who is stepping down after eight years in the role.

The German economy remains sluggish. Sales at McDonald's were up 1.6 percent in 2012, its slowest growth pace since 2004.

McCafe now available in India

Also, McDonald's McCafe line will launch this week throughout India. According to the Business Standard, the chain's franchisee, Hardcastle Restaurants, will introduce the first McCafe in Mumbai.

The plan is to introduce the McCafe brand in 75 to 150 units within the next three to five years. McDonald's intends on sourcing its coffee locally from Chikmagalur in Karnataka. Coca-Cola will supply coffee beans to the company.

McDonald's has 10,000 McCafes throughout the world. In the past three years, McDonald's India has added breakfast and dessert offerings to the menu.
