McDonald's global comps continue to climb

OAK BROOK, Ill. — McDonald's Corp. reported solid increases in global and domestic comparable-store sales for December, the fourth quarter and fiscal year 2006 periods, which ended Dec. 31.
According to a regulatory filing, global comps rose 7.2 percent in December, up 5 percent from Dec. 2005. Global comps for 4Q '06 and the full year rose 6.3 percent and 5.7 percent, respectively.
In the United States, comps rose 6.9 percent for December; in the Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa, December comps increased 4.8 percent.
"McDonald's performance for the year reflects our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and the strength of our global alignment around the Plan to Win," said McDonald's chief executive Jim Skinner. "We begin 2007 from a position of strength and remain focused on providing relevant menu choices and everyday affordability to serve the needs of our customers."
