November 7, 2007

OAK BROOK, Ill. — Global comparable-store sales for McDonald's Corp. restaurants rose 6.9 percent in October, the company announced. Systemwide sales for McDonald's restaurants worldwide increased 14.2 percent for the month.

In the U.S., comparable-store sales climbed 5.4 percent, driven by new products, late-night hours and breakfast options. Additionally, the Monopoly game promotion contributed to the increase, McDonald's officials said.

In Europe, comparable-store sales rose 6.4 percent for the month, driven primarily by France, the U.K. and Russia.

In Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa, locally relevant products, extended operating hours and branded affordability menus fueled a comparable-store sales increase of 9.4 percent for October. Strong performance in most markets, led by Australia, Japan and China, contributed to these results.
