Chicago-based McDonald's is highlighting its high-protein menu selections as a majority of its customers seek balanced meal options, according to a press release.
The company reports that 64% of McDonald's customers are looking to enjoy the food they love in a balanced way. Currently, more than 30 menu items at the chain offer 15g or more of protein.
High-protein offerings include the Egg McMuffin with 17 grams of protein, the 10-piece Chicken McNuggets with 23 grams, and the McDouble with 22 grams. Other menu items featuring protein include McCrispy Strips with 30 grams, the Snack Wrap with 17 grams, and the Filet-O-Fish with 16 grams.
"People want food that fits their lives — and that includes more protein without giving up great taste," Gina Hardy, VP, U.S. marketing and menu strategy at McDonald's, said in the press release. "The options they're looking for have been on our menu all along, made with real, quality ingredients, the flavors our fans love, and the convenience and value they count on every day."
The company noted that customers can also customize orders to increase protein content by adding items such as an extra egg to breakfast sandwiches or an additional beef patty to burgers.
Nutritional and ingredient information for all menu items is available on the McDonald's app and company website.
