McDonald's hosting two-week free coffee giveaway

September 8, 2014

McDonald's today announced that its second national free coffee event will be held from Sept. 16 through Sept. 29. During that time, guests can receive a free small McCafé coffee during breakfast hours at participating restaurants across the country.

This event builds on McDonald's first-ever free coffee event launched in March. According to a news release, the company gave away millions of cups of free coffee during that two-week period.

"We know our guests are busy, especially during the morning, and a free cup of coffee goes a long way in helping get their days started," Greg Watson, SVP of US Menu Innovation, said in the release. "That's why we want to treat customers once again so they can taste for themselves just how great their mornings can be with a cup of McCafé coffee and freshly made breakfast."

McDonald’s is supporting the promotion with a “sip and tell” social media campaign, asking fans to share “embarrassing pre-coffee moments” via @McCafe using the hashtag #SipandTell. Select fans will receive gifts.

McDonald’s is planning to re-launch its white chocolate mocha offering in time for this year’s holiday season, as well as a new white chocolate latte and hot chocolate, for a limited time. Also, starting in early 2015, McDonald’s McCafé ground coffee will be available in grocery stores and retailers nationwide.
