September 18, 2008
BusinessWeek: Interbrand and BusinessWeek have released the list of Best 100 Global Brands. Two quick-serve restaurant brands made the list: McDonald's at No. 8 and KFC at No. 64.
McDonald's held its place in the Top 10, with a $31 billion brand value, noted not only for its burgers and fries but expanding into specialty coffee. KFC fell 2 percent in brand value from $5.7 billion to $5.6 billion, but rose in the ranks four places from 60 the last two years. KFC's brand was boosted by its popularity in China and for introducing grilled chicken meals in the United States.
Yum! Brands, parent company of KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell, is noted for the brands' overseas reinvention. The brands do well overseas where there is room for growth.
