McDonald's McCafe line now available in Korea

July 17, 2012

Three full years after the McDonald's U.S. introduction of the McCafe line, the chain is now bringing the popular beverage offerings to South Korea.

According to the Korea Herald, the McCafe was officially launched today in Seoul.

McDonald's Korea tested the line at 10 units throughout the country last year, with successful results.

McCafe made its debut in Australia in 1993. In that country, the line now accounts for about 30 percent of sales.

McCafe is now available in 34 countries.

Sean Newton, CEO of McDonald's Korea, told the Herald that the introduction was made possible with the expansion of drive-thru stores, as having the McCafe menu requires larger stores. The Korean McCafe line will feature more than 30 beverages and 20 desserts.
